Freshfields advises Fresenius on €400m loan by the European Investment Bank
Global law firm Freshfields has advised Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA on a €400m loan by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The financing will strengthen Fresenius’ European research and development (R&D) activities, and support the expansion of Fresenius Kabi's manufacturing of medical products and biosimilars in European countries.
Fresenius is a global healthcare company headquartered in Bad Homburg, Germany, focusing on the therapy and care of critically and chronically ill patients. The company is committed to improving healthcare through the use of technology and human care and operates in more than 90 countries worldwide.
The Freshfields team was led by Principal Associate Dennis Chinnow with support by Associate Thilo Köhler (both Finance, Frankfurt).
Freshfields has supported Fresenius on several significant financing transactions in recent years, including two bond issues totaling €1.3bn (press release here), a further €1bn bond issuance (press release here), as well as an issuance of €850m sustainability-linked Schuldschein loans (press release here).
