Freshfields advises The Squaire on successful extension of its financing
Global law firm Freshfields has advised The Squaire GmbH & Co. KG on the extension of its loan agreement until 2028, with a conditional further extension option until 2029. It is the main holding company of The Squaire, the iconic 140,000 m2 mixed-use office, hotel and retail asset at Frankfurt Airport.
The loan financing had been securitised by way of single asset CMBS transaction in 2021. The extension provides the opportunity for further improvements to the asset, which is Germany’s largest office building.
The Freshfields team was led by Partner Frank Laudenklos and Principal Associate Dennis Chinnow (both Finance, Frankfurt). They were supported by a team including Partner Niko Schultz-Süchting, Principal Associates Jan Matauschek (both Real Estate, Hamburg) and Daniel Roggenkemper (Corporate), as well as Associate Beatrice Zobel (Finance, both Frankfurt).
