Freshfields advises Vossloh AG on French Competition Authority clearance for Sateba acquisition
Global law firm Freshfields advised Vossloh AG on obtaining the French Competition Authority’s prior approval for the acquisition of Sateba.
On 29 September 2025, the French Competition Authority approved Vossloh AG’s acquisition of Sateba, subject to the implementation of a commitment proposed by Vossloh AG.
Vossloh AG, headquartered in Werdohl, Germany, is an international technology group specialising in the railway infrastructure market.
Sateba, headquartered in Paris, is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of concrete railway sleepers and bearers. The company employs approximately 1,120 people across 19 production sites in ten European countries. For the current financial year, Sateba is forecasting sales of around €340 million.
The Freshfields team was led by partners Uta Itzen and Jérôme Philippe with senior associate Anne Dos and associates Basile Marin and Narimane Sadoune. The team was supported by economists from E.CA Economics.
