Hunton & Williams LLP’s Brussels Office Receives International Recognitions

The Brussels office of Hunton & Williams LLP recently received recognitions from Chambers Global, Chambers Europe as well as Legal 500 EMEA.

Chambers Global 2009 recognized the firm’s privacy practice as being “among the very best […], especially in the EU”. Europe is described as a “particular area of strength for the practice” and the European privacy lawyers as “absolute experts with a broad understanding of every nuance of data protection”.

Brussels partner Christopher Kuner was recognized as a “data security expert”. Chambers Europe 2009 acknowledged that Christopher Kuner “has a strong knowledge of e-commerce and technology issues and is incredibly well connected with all the data privacy regulators in Europe […]”.

Furthermore, the Brussels environmental regulatory practice of Hunton & Williams earned a “Band 1” ranking in Chambers Europe 2009, which described it as “absolutely top-notch”, and noted in particular “the supremely talented regulatory specialist Lucas Bergkamp”. Hunton & Williams was also recognized in the Legal 500 EMEA’s “Environment”, “EU Regulatory Environment” and “EU Regulatory Chemicals” sections. Professor Bergkamp was recognized as “very knowledgeable” and received praise for his “proactive approach to offering solutions” on REACH work.

Finally, both Chambers Global 2009 and Chambers Europe 2009 listed Dr. Michael Rosenthal, the Brussels Office Managing Partner, as “Leader in his Field” of competition law. The office’s growing competition practice was recognized in the 2009 edition of Legal 500 EMEA stating that the firm “possesses
