Am 11. und 12. September 2026 ist der BFH Gastgeber für die 16. Jahrestagung der IATJ (https://iatj.net/), einer im Jahr 2010 gegründeten Vereinigung von Finanzrichterinnen und Finanzrichtern weltweit. Dazu reisen70 Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus 24 Ländern nach München. Die international renommierte Steuerrechtstagung findet zum zweiten Mal nach 2012 in der bayerischen Landeshauptstadt statt. Länderübergreifende Steuerrechtsthemen stehen für die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer bei verschiedenen Panels auf dem Programm. Diskutiert wird unter anderem über

die Verwendung der Musterkommentare der Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) für die Anwendung und Auslegung von Doppelbesteuerungsabkommen durch die Gerichte,

die aktuelle Rechtsprechung zu direkten Steuern und Umsatzsteuer in den Mitgliedstaaten, und

den Einsatz von sozialen Medien und KI in der Finanzgerichtsbarkeit.

Abgerundet wird die Tagung durch ein abendliches Rahmenprogramm, das Möglichkeit für den persönlichen kollegialen Austausch bietet.

16th Annual Conference of the International Association of Tax Judges (IATJ) – 70 tax judges from 24 countries and 5 continents hosted by the Federal Fiscal Court (BFH)

On September 11 and 12, 2026, the BFH will host the 16th annual conference of the IATJ (https://iatj.net/), an association of tax judges from around the world founded in 2010. 70 colleagues from 24 countries travel to Munich for the two-day event. The internationally renowned tax law conference is taking place in the Bavarian capital for the second time since 2012. Cross-border tax law topics are on the program for the participants in various panels. Among other things, the panels will discuss

the use of the model commentaries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for the application and interpretation of double taxation agreements by the courts,

the current case law on direct taxes and VAT in the member states, and

the use of social media and AI in the tax judiciary.

The conference is rounded off by an evening program that offers opportunities for personal, collegial exchange.
