Freshfields advises Cartonplast on infrastructure refinancing
Global law firm Freshfields has advised Cartonplast Group in connection with the closing of its successful infrastructure debt refinancing. This transaction further solidifies Freshfields’ position as market-leading advisor on complex infrastructure debt mandates in Europe.
Cartonplast Group, a DBAG portfolio company, is Europe’s leading systems supplier for reusable plastic layer pads. The new €230m financing package transaction optimises Cartonplast’s financing structure and repositions its credit profile from a traditional leveraged finance structure to an infrastructure debt package. The financing also provides a stable framework for further growth, reducing costs while increasing operational flexibility.
The financing was provided by a group of infrastructure lenders, including banks and institutional investors. Macquarie Capital acted as financial advisor for the infrastructure financing.
The international Freshfields team was led by energy and infrastructure debt Partner Andreas Ruthemeyer (Frankfurt), who consistently advises on a broad range of infrastructure debt financings in the European market.
It also included Counsel Anouschka Zagorski, Principal Associate Laura Korndörfer (both Frankfurt), Senior Associate Katy Foxall (London), as well as Associates Valentina Niegisch and Iryna Karpliuk (both Frankfurt, all Finance).
