Freshfields advises Skyborn Renewables on its full acquisition of Nordergründe offshore wind farm
Global law firm Freshfields has advised Skyborn Renewables on the acquisition of the Nordergründe offshore wind farm commissioned in 2017 and located 13 kilometres off the coast of Lower Saxony in the German North Sea. On completion of the transaction, Skyborn Renewables became the sole owner of OWP Nordergründe GmbH & Co. KG, it previously held a 30% interest in. With 18 turbines and a total installed capacity of 111 MW, the wind farm generates enough renewable electricity to supply around 90,000 households per year.
Skyborn Renewables is a global offshore wind platform with more than 25 years of experience in the sector and is headquartered in Germany. The acquisition marks a natural evolution of Skyborn’s long-term strategy to develop, build, own and operate offshore wind assets in core markets. Skyborn Renewables is a portfolio company of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), which became part of BlackRock in 2024.
